FAQ

WILL X-BLADES DAMAGE MY MOWER?!

Short answer: No — when used correctly on compatible machines.

There are a lot of misconceptions about running two blades per spindle, so let’s clear a few things up.

The X-Blade is a bracket that holds two blades at a true 90-degree angle, keeping the setup properly balanced on the spindle. Machines that are compatible with a dual-blade configuration are typically commercial-grade mowers built with heavy-duty components designed to handle the additional rotating mass.

The X-Blade bracket itself is engineered to give slightly on hard impacts, helping protect more expensive components like blades, spindles, and deck parts.

⚠️ Blade selection matters.

Using the correct blades is critical, and following proper operation guidelines—such as engaging and disengaging blades at 50–70% throttle—helps prevent unnecessary wear.

Proven in the field

The X-Blade system has been on the market for over 10 years, with hundreds of thousands of sets sold and used daily by contractors of all sizes.

To ensure the correct setup:

  • Use the Search by Mower guide on our website
  • Only run X-Blades on approved machines

Chute Blocker Note:

A chute blocker is not required to run X-Blades, but it can be beneficial for improving discharge control, directing airflow, and dialing in mulching performance—especially during leaf cleanup or heavy growth conditions.

X-Blades can be run:

  • During leaf cleanups
  • In heavy growth seasons
  • Or all season, if desired

The blades used in the X-Blade setup can also be run as single blades at any time.

If you’re looking to improve cut quality, vacuum, mulching performance, and discharge velocity, X-Blades may be the upgrade you’re looking for.
